The Oswego Sunrise Rotary celebrated the Changing of the Guard recently. Board members also assumed their positions for this year.
Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Todd announced that 20 children from the county are attending the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute’s 2015 Summer Camp. The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp is designed to provide a solid recreational program combined with the development of a sense of good citizenship.
Harborfest Executive Director Doug Buske presented Assemblyman Will Barclay with a framed copy of the official Harborfest poster today (July 14) at Harborfest headquarters in Oswego. The contest was given to the students at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton this year, challenging them to create a 2015 Harborfest poster design. This year’s winner was senior Chlarissia Crast.
Youth from Oswego County get ready to attend the 2015 Reality Check Youth Summit being held at Colgate University, July 14 -16. The summit will host more than 200 teens from across New York State, who are interested in exposing the marketing practices of Big Tobacco Companies that target youth as potential replacement smokers.
On July 1 and 2, AmeriCorps members Tori Zerrahn and John Carmody visited the Oswego County Fair where they educated the community on proper physical fitness and nutrition habits. They handed out informative pamphlets, tools and entertaining activities such as coloring books to both children and adults.
Barbecued chicken will be on the menu during Harborfest at the Salvation Army, 73 W. Second St. On July 24, dinners will be served from 3 p.m. until sold out. On July 25, serving will begin at noon and continue until sold out.
