The week of June 21 – June 27, 2015 has been declared the 18th annual “National Mosquito Control Awareness Week” by the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA), an organization dedicated to preserving the public’s health and well-being through safe, environmentally-sound mosquito control programs since 1935.
The Oswego Children’s Theater has completed casting for its next production, “Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids. The production is slated to be performed on July 17 at 7:30 p.m., July 18 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and July 19 at 2 p.m. in the theater performance space at the New Haven Congregational Church.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is proud to present the first “Waterfront Open House.” The event will be held on the west pier in the Historic Maritime District at the J. Richard Pfund Boating Center on June 25 from 4-8 p.m. The public is invited to visit and learn about boating safety and sailing fundamentals and other on-the-water activities.
Counseling and Healing Arts is an office that provides mental health counseling as well as holistic health care. The main office is located at 188 S. Third St., Fulton. They host a satellite office in Oswego. Counseling and Healing Arts accepts many insurance plans and also offers the option of self-pay for those who need it.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Patrick Waite introduced Geri Geitner of FCSD and Janice Scott from OCO who spoke about the Fulton Community School, which “is not a program; it’s a strategy.” Funded through a grant, one of 31 awarded statewide, Fulton Community School is housed in Fulton Junior High School.
A group of Syracuse elementary and secondary teachers are building their expertise to teach students with limited English proficiency through a partnership with SUNY Oswego and the New York State Education Department. The department approached SUNY Oswego’s School of Education last fall about the need to improve instruction for the growing numbers of students in urban schools who are learning English.
The 2015 SUNY Council for University Advancement Awards of Excellence competition recognized two SUNY Oswego projects. The awards ceremony, at the organization’s annual conference in June in Rochester, recognized work across the SUNY system’s advancement and communications disciplines.
The Oswego County Real Property Tax Service will sell up to 130 parcels of tax delinquent properties at the annual tax property auction July 18 at Oswego High School, Buccaneer Boulevard. Bidder registration begins at 8 a.m. and the auction will start at 10 a.m. An informational and early registration meeting for bidders will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. July 17, at the high school.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging will have Farmers’ Market Coupon Booklets available beginning July 1. The booklets are valued at $20. There are a limited number of coupon booklets available and distribution is on a first come, first served basis.
There is a limit of one booklet per household.
