Celebrate the Summer Solstice at the 16th annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta on June 20 at the Oswego Yacht Club. Lighthouse Lanes and Eagle Beverage are again the hosts of the reception. All proceeds benefit Oswego County Hospice patients and families.
Students at Fairgrieve Elementary School collected money and supplies to support a local animal rescue organization, Paws Across Oswego County. Volunteers from the organization brought Charlotte and Sawyer, two of their most famous rescue dogs along to pick up the donated items at the school.
Third grade students from Granby Elementary School in Mrs. Murdoch’s class and their kindergarten buddies in Mrs. Van Buren’s classroom joined forces with Kelly Weaver, Friends of Fulton City Parks, to spruce up Recreation Park as part of a project based learning initiative called “taking pride in your community.”
With the growing number of homeless within Oswego County, the AmeriCorps program based out of the Youth Bureau, has continued its work with the Department of Social Services, Catholic Charities, and Oswego County Opportunities. These agencies are working to lower the homeless population through the Economic Opportunity Program.

Oswego County residents have collectively saved more than $8 million on nearly 230,000 prescriptions since the County Legislature implemented the ProAct prescription discount card program in February 2008. The program is designed to help un-insured and underinsured residents save money on their prescription medications through a no-cost hassle-free prescription drug card.
About 80 SUNY Oswego students and employees representing two dozen student organizations and college offices volunteered their time over eight days at the end of spring semester to collect $1,519.74 for the International Medical Corps relief agency.
