The usual disposal fees will be waived for residents of the two counties only for these one-day events, which are part of ongoing effort by Senator Ritchie and local community leaders to clean up backyards and area roadsides, and deny breeding areas for mosquitoes that could spread disease, including Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

DuFore’s for Diamonds in Oswego is again adding some sparkle to this year’s “Bundle of Bucks” Charity Raffle Party taking place May 9. Dufore’s donated a silver necklace to be awarded during the event, which also includes the big drawing for 15 prizes totaling $25,000 with a top prize of $10,000 to a lucky winner.

A full day of events is planned at North Volney Methodist Church on May 9 and you won’t want to miss any of the fun. There will be a used book sale from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the church with all kinds of books available to purchase.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse Committee worked for more than a year to offer the Oswego Lighthouse Benefit Auction on April 25 as part of Love our Lighthouse Day held at the American Foundry. Meanwhile, other community residents were working to raise funds in other unique ways.

The Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Oswego High School cafeteria to conduct the monthly committee meetings and a regular meeting. Also that night, the public hearing on the proposed 2015-16 Oswego City School District Budget will be held.

On May 30 at 1:30 p.m., the H. Lee White Maritime Museum will present the second installment of its History Lecture Series. George DeMass returns to share his experiences among Native Americans with particular reference to the Carlisle Indian School, in Carlisle, Pa.

The Oswego Middle School National Junior Honor Society 2015 induction ceremony was held April 26 at the Ralph M. Faust Theatre in Oswego High School. Eighteen students were inducted, according to Oswego Middle School Principal Mary Beth Fierro, who emceed the ceremony.

Dave Webber and Lee Webber were introduced by Rotarian Tim Archer at a recent Fulton Noon Rotary meeting. The Webbers are a retired couple who volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team.
