Heather Cannella and Patty Lazarz’s classes engaged in the learning of Westward Expansion with the creation of a class quilt at Michael A Maroun Elementary. The students heard a story each day relating to the topic of Westward Expansion during their listening block. Traditionally, students would have written a summary of the lesson, but Cannella and Lazarz had other ideas.
Jodi L. Blasczienski was hired as a personal lines account manager at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA) it was announced by Martha Murray, president.
Six graphic design candidates for graduate degrees at SUNY Oswego will display their best work in the Master of Arts Spring Exhibition from March 10 to 27 in Tyler Art Gallery at Penfield Library. A free public reception for the artists will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. March 27 at the gallery.
The town of Volney History Center is pleased to offer “Tour of Historic Homes, Structures and Sites of Interest in the Township.“ On April 25 a trolley provided by the Great Lakes Trolley Company will leave the town hall on County Route 6, Volney Center at 9 a.m.
The Oswego High School Softball Club will host a chicken barbeque on March 8 from 11 a.m. until sold out at Gibby’s Pub, West Second and Lake streets in Oswego. The menu includes chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, a roll, and dessert. Dine-in, delivery, or take-outs are available.
Pianist Juan La Manna, professor of music at SUNY Oswego, will offer a free music recital featuring works of Brahms, Mozart and more at 3 p.m. March 8, in Sheldon Hall ballroom on campus. La Manna will play “3 Intermezzi, Op. 117” of Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy’s “Images, Book 2” and Alberto Ginastera’s three “Argentine Dances.” Members of the College-Community Orchestra will join the pianist for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Piano Concerto in A major, K488.”
Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
At a recent Noon Rotary Club meeting, Zach Menter was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow recognizes people who give back to the community and Zach certainly has earned this.
