“From coward to courageous, from broken to bold . . . one moment changed it all,” says Port City Faith Assembly of God Church, who will be hosting two Easter services April 5 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

When the John C. Birdlebough High School Drama Club recently presented “Guys and Dolls,” the successful performance was the culminating act after months of hard work. According to Brian Logee, the director of the musical, countless students, staff members and volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes leading up to the actual show.

Students Kaleb Bartlett, Avery Evans and Riley Thurlow, kindergarteners at Lanigan Elementary School, recently had the pleasure of sharing Math Café with the Fulton City School District Board of Education.

Story Musgrave (M.D. and former NASA Astronaut) will visit Mexico Academy and Central Schools to speak with the students and the community on the importance of STEM education. He will present to the public on April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mexico Middle School.

Twenty-four students from kindergarten through sixth grade earned the Principal’s Award, which recognizes students for exhibiting the school’s behavioral expectations.

Jonathan Mooney, a dyslexic writer and activist who did not learn to read until he was 12 years old, recently captivated an audience of students from Hannibal High School with his successful life story. Mooney, a graduate of Brown University with a degree English Literature, has authored several published books and memoirs, and has been featured or quoted in several popular news outlets, including The New York Times, The Providence Journal and USA Today.

Nathaniel Hawthorne, of Fulton, is studying abroad this spring as part of a Union College international program. He is majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics and a member of the Class of 2016, is in Sicily, studying the Italian language, history and culture of Sicily and conducting scientific research.

G&C Foods has been a strong supporter of Oswego County Opportunities over the past several years. The company recently made a donation of $20,000 to the agency and will be rounding up a posse of seven teams to participate in this year’s OCO Rodeo Bowl on April 18 at Lakeview Lanes.
