Students at Lanigan Elementary School were recently honored during an assembly for exemplifying honesty throughout the month of February. One student from each class throughout the school was chosen by their teachers to receive special recognition during the ceremony for showcasing honesty.
Author and historian Roy Reehil will present a program about the life of the legendary Adirondack hermit, Louie “French Louie” Seymour, at 7 p.m. April 8 at the Parish Town Hall, 2938 E. Main St. The program is hosted by the Parish Historical Society and is free and open to the public.

Man in the Moon Candies is donating a three-foot tall, 20-pound milk chocolate rabbit to benefit the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. The drawing takes place April 4. Tickets are available at Man in the Moon Candies, 203 W. First St. and at the museum shop inside the old stone fort at Fort Ontario State Historic Site, 1 E. Fourth St., Oswego.
“He was just a class-act guy,” said Emeritus Professor Harry Nash, Ph.D., Dunham’s friend for 52 years. “In all the years that I’ve known him, I’ve never heard anyone say an unkind word about him. He was the kind of guy who was never too busy to have a conversation with a friend. He set a good example for anyone who wanted to become an educator.”
Students involved in the school’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program were recently honored with a graduation ceremony, proving they have learned the value in saying no to drugs and violence.

Nurses from the St. Luke Family of Caring are teaming up with the Fulton Family YMCA to offer the community bone density screenings on March 25 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the YMCA, 715 W. Broadway. The screenings are free of charge and open to YMCA members and the public alike.
