The campaign was created by Oswego State students Denvol Haye, member of Delta Kappa Kappa fraternity, and Eli Kim-Swallow, a forward on the Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey team, to raise awareness about child abuse and reduce its devastating impact in Oswego County.

Kindergarten students at Riley Elementary recently welcomed Chris Kearns of Associated Dental Arts to come in and share information that promotes dental care and healthy habits. Kearns, a dental hygienist, traditionally spends the month of February visiting local area schools giving dental presentations.

Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-in will launch the 2015 edition of the Oswego County Salvation Army’s Guest Chef Dinners with a sampling of their favorite foods on March 18, with dining room and takeout service from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Cayuga Community College Alumni Association is offering a three-day, two-night bus excursion to Washington, D.C. from April 24 to 26. Travelers will tour the National Air Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center on route to the Cambria Suites Hotel, located at the New City Market at O lifestyle center.

Kindergarten students at Granby Elementary were recently treated like royalty, as they became the main attractions of an aristocratic parade throughout the hallways of the school.

It was a bull market at Lura M. Sharp Elementary School when 17 teams from the school’s fifth grade classes invested $100,000 each in theoretical money into company stocks as they participated in The Stock Market Game. At the end of three months, seven of the teams had realized a profit, and one team stood out as the Stock Market Game champions.

The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation provides adult learners in Oswego County with a wide range of trades and technology training and recently was approached by Exelon Generation at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear facilities units 1 and 2 to provide specific heavy equipment training for their employees.

After students in the Phoenix Central School District attended last year’s Special Olympics in Cicero, PCSD personnel were so inspired that they wanted to start their own event for Oswego County students. That idea, first pitched to administrators by physical education teacher Angie Neiss, quickly blossomed and will become a reality when Phoenix hosts the Oswego County Olympiad Invitational on May 14.
