The Oswego County Legislature’s Government, Courts and Consumer Affairs Committee recently presented Debra Mullenax with a certificate of appreciation for her 30 years of service.

All Oswego County offices, solid waste transfer stations, the Bristol Hill Landfill and the Materials Recovery Facility will be closed on Dec. 25 for Christmas Day and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. The Energy Recovery Facility will remain open both days to serve solid waste haulers.

More than 20 local bands and musicians will perform on December 17 from 6-11 p.m. at The American Foundry, 246 W. Seneca St., for an all-star evening of live music to benefit the toy drive for Toys for Tots of Oswego County. Entry to the event is free, with each donated new toy. For each toy that is donated you’ll receive a raffle ticket for a wide variety of prizes that will be entered to win.

Scholars, scientists, educators and students are invited to submit proposals for the 20th annual Rice Creek Associates Small Grants Program by Feb. 15. Approved projects must involve work at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station. Awards are expected to range between $500 and $2,500, said Dr. Peter Rosenbaum, professor of biological sciences at SUNY Oswego.
The sounds of the holiday season will once again be heard at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the annual Fulton Community Band Christmas Concert in the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium. The concert is free and FMA is providing free bus transportation to and from the concert for residents of Towpath Towers and Fulton Mill Apartments.
