The Oswego office of OVIA Insurance Agencies donated an entire Christmas dinner and gifts for children at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School recently, as part of the insurance agency’s annual holiday giving program.
Students performed traditional favorites including White Christmas and Silent Night, along with a wonderful rendition of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy for the residents and family members in attendance.
The Oswego Association of Business and Professional Women hosted its annual holiday party at Vona’s in Oswego. Santa Claus made a special trip to see the ladies enjoy the start to the holiday season.
The supervisors of the city of Oswego DPW, came together to help those less fortunate this holiday season. They each contributed enough monies to purchase all of the Angel gift tags, given by the Salvation Army, from their tree.
This Sunday is the Lake City Lodge No. 127 and Lake City Victoria Order of the Eastern Star No. 205 All You Can Eat Christmas Breakfast Buffet Benefit with Santa and raffle to benefit the Oswego Community Youth Orchestra.
The joint concert, which was well attended by family members and friends of the performers, featured the school’s percussion ensemble, symphonic band, concert chorus and wind ensemble, as well as chamber sings and combined choirs.
Parents of Special Children, Inc., recently hosted a Disguise Your Turkey contest. People of all ages decorated cardboard turkeys and brought their “disguised turkeys” to the office so they could “hide” from all the farmers.
SUNY Oswego’s Holiday Toy Drive, now in its 27th year, continues to be a major factor in trying to ensure every kid in Oswego County has at least one toy to open during the holiday season.
Prize winners from as far away as North Carolina were recently chosen to receive prizes donated by local charter captains and snowmobile clubs in a promotional contest organized by the county Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. The “Visit Oswego County” contest was held for several months this summer at the Gateway Visitor Center on I-81 south of Binghamton.
