ARISE is pleased to announce a new Diabetes Self-Management Program for people with disabilities who are on Medicaid. The six-week workshop is free and will take place once a week starting on January 15.
The Oswego High School freshman class (class of 2018) will hold a fundraiser in conjunction with Xpress Auto Care on Route 104 West in Oswego on Dec. 9 and 10. A percentage of sales from oil changes that day will be donated to the freshman class.
The school met all six standards for both initial and advanced teacher preparation at undergraduate and graduate levels. Moreover, the team of reviewers indicated that Oswego excelled in and performed beyond expectations in all of the standards, including the self-identified area of excellence on field experience and clinical practice.
The annual Family Christmas Experience event will be hosted by the Open Doors Neighborhood Center of First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St., on December 12 from 6:30 pm to 8 p.m. This is a free and festive evening of family activity and fun.
Sandy Creek Central School District recently hosted its Holiday Band Concert featuring performances by students in fifth through twelfth grades. By showcasing each of the district’s four band programs, audience members were able to see and hear the progression students make throughout their time in school.
Items up for bids include gift baskets, holiday items, original art, gift cards, homemade items and gift certificates from local services and establishments. A complimentary light lunch will be served.
The Oswego High School Owl’s Head Chapter of the National Honor Society coordinated a fundraiser this past November to fight against prostate cancer. It was the fourth consecutive year that the chapter has partnered with the American Cancer Society.
At the November meeting of the board of trustees of the Parish Public Library, Mayor Kathryn Perkins presented Evelyn Newton with a Distinguished Service Award as an outstanding officer and member of the board.
The Minetto Student Council recently sponsored a Spirit Week at the Minetto Elementary School. On the last day of the week students were invited to wear pajamas to school and bring in a donation for the Minetto Holiday Drive, which benefits local families.
The Oswego County Health Department is offering influenza immunization clinics for people age 19 and older weekdays at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
