At its November monthly meeting, the Oswego County Comets Motorcycle Riding Club met to gear up for the holidays. The Comets will again be giving gift cards at Christmas to families in our local area in need of a little assistance during the holidays. In addition, we will once again hold our annual canned food drive.
Residents at Morningstar Residential Care were recently treated to a special harvest dinner as part of Morningstar’s Thanksgiving celebration. The dinner was one of several Thanksgiving themed events on the residents’ activity schedule.
Junior archery instruction is back at Pathfinder Fish and Game Club, 116 Crescent Drive. Instruction will begin on January 8, 2015, from 6 – 8 p.m. and continues for eight weeks.
In front of hundreds of family members and friends, third grade students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School recently performed a holiday concert. Under the direction of music teachers Carol Van Gorder and Jody Lentz, students sang a handful of holiday themed songs in front of a packed crowd.
Oswego Minor Hockey Association Snowbelt Bantam and Pee Wee (Red) teams spent some time between practices to put together Blizzard Bags for the Oswego County Opportunities Meals on Wheels Program.
This appreciation program will recognize past and present faculty and staff members who have exhibited unforgettable commitment and service to the children of the Sandy Creek Central School District.
Oswego Health has named Christopher Mitchell as its new director of physician recruitment. In this position, Mitchell will develop and implement strategies that assist in retaining and attracting new physicians to the health system.
SUNY Oswego faculty members Lisa Glidden of political science and Tim Braun of chemistry filled a gap in the resources for a course they co-teach on the politics of energy by literally writing the book on it. “Understanding Energy and Energy Policy” ships this month from Amazon and other resources.
Sponsored by the American Red Cross, Holiday Mail for Heroes collects holiday cards, personally signed by donors, to distribute to service members at military bases, veterans’ hospitals and other locations to let them know their sacrifices are appreciated by those back home.
