Members of the SUNY Oswego men’s and women’s Great Laker ice hockey teams recently presented a donation of non-perishable food items along with some toys for Christmas that will be given to children in need in Oswego County.
The Manor at Seneca Hill remembered residents and participants of its Adult Day Health Services program who passed away during the last year at a memorial service held November 23 at the skilled nursing facility. Leading the services was the Rev. Chuck Davis, who provides spiritual care at The Manor.
Thanks to Elks Lodge members, one individual with chronic health conditions has regained access to the community, another family will no longer have to lift their young child’s wheelchair on and off the front porch every day, and a third young child was able to have her aluminum ramp replaced with a permanent wood ramp.
Mexico Academy and Central School hosted the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League qualifying event for their first time at the Mexico middle school. The recently renovated gymnasium was packed with smiling learners, coaches and parents.
Staff at St. Luke Health Services held a food drive recently to benefit Catholic Charities of Oswego County. For a donation of a canned or boxed food item, St. Luke staff “dressed casually” for the day in support of Catholic Charities and their annual holiday food drive.
Heather McCoy has joined Steve Chirello Advertising as an administrative assistant and graphic designer.
The Oswego Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled. The meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, December 15.
Students at Leighton Elementary School enjoyed a colorful and fun-filled presentation recently from author and cartoonist Frank Cammuso. Cammuso talked about the process of writing and illustrating comics, and how he started his career as an author/cartoonist.
The Oswego Town Historical Society Christmas open house will be held on Dec. 6 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Oswego Town Hall, 2320 County Route 7 (Johnson Road).
