Phoenix students participate in community CROP Walk

Students in the Phoenix Central School District joined forces with members of the community on Oct. 5 to raise funds to help fight hunger as part of the annual CROP Walk. The event, sponsored by Church World Service, was a united effort among students, staff, local churches and community groups, according to PCSD physical education teacher Angie Neiss.

Camp Hollis Hosts Family Hollis Harvest Day Oct. 18

All Oswego County youth and family members are invited to celebrate the autumn season this Saturday at the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau’s “Hollis Harvest.” This free event will feature games and outdoor activities from 2 to 6 p.m., including fall-themed games, trick-or-treating from cabin to cabin, arts and crafts, trail walks, and the entertainment of Wade Live, co-sponsored by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the Oswego Kiwanis Club.

Pulaski Health Center to offer Free Breast Cancer Screenings October 25

On October 25 representatives from Oswego Health will be performing the exams at the Pulaski Health Center, at 61 Delano St., from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The free clinical breast exams and mammograms are part of the Cancer Services ‘Human Pink Ribbon’ ceremony that will be taking place at the Pulaski Health center beginning at 9 a.m. that day.

Pink Panther Coming To Bodley High School Stage

Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School proudly present William Gleason’s comic play, The Pink Panther Strikes Again. Performances are scheduled for October 17 and 18 in the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium. The world’s most unusual criminologist, Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau, a role originally created by Peter Sellers, fights for his life and for the future of all mankind in the most bizarre and dangerous caper of his brilliantly successful and utterly clumsy career.

OCO Services To Aid Families Receives Grant From Mary Kay Foundation

Oswego County Opportunities’ Services to Aid Families Program in Oswego received a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation as part of the organization’s annual Shelter Grant program to maintain critical services and programs. The Mary Kay Foundation awarded a total of $3 million in funding to 150 domestic violence shelters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam in advance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
