Students in Carol Touron’s class at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School recently learned first-hand just how sweet hard work can really be. In an effort to showcase thankfulness, appreciation, and of course food, students helped prepare, cook and serve a Thanksgiving feast for family members and friends.

Lura Sharp Elementary School staff recently announced the Dare to Dream Award winners for the month of November, which was handed out to students who best exhibited citizenship throughout the month. The award ceremony was complete with a red carpet display for honorees to walk down.

Preparations are under way for the annual Holiday Bazaar at the Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church to be held Dec. 5 and 6. The event will feature crafts, a bake sale and candy sale, a sale of gently used holiday items and a luncheon which will be served throughout the day. Bazaar hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

VEX is a robotics company that has built a program to challenge high school students to engineer robots to compete against each other. During competitions students get a chance to earn a place at the state championship where the winning team can move onto the world competition competing for scholarships. Students learn valuable skills during preparation for and during the competitions.

The students in Mrs. Stephanie Talamo’s Kindergarten class at Trinity Catholic School celebrated Thanksgiving recently. Students enjoyed turkey soup, corn muffins as well the butter they prepared themselves.

The Fulton City School District has announced its schedule of upcoming concerts. A wide variety of instrumental and vocal options are available for your musical delight. All concerts are free and the public is invited to attend.

Recognizing Oswego County’s theme for November is Senior Support. This month, the group focused their lens on efforts within the community to engage with and improve the lives of senior citizens. Adopt-a-Grandparent, an all-volunteer, student run group at SUNY Oswego, was chosen as the Community Champion for November.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be stopping by to visit at the Pulaski Historical Society as part of “Light Up Pulaski” on Dec. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. Santa will meet and talk with the children in the Carriage House, as well as delight them with a story. Meanwhile, in the museum house, Bev Rossman will be entertaining visitors with music of the Christmas season on her guitar.
