Looking for holiday gifts that also boost the local economy? Plan to attend the Oswego County Holiday Farmers’ Market on December 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mexico VFW, 5930 Scenic Ave. (State Route 3), just north of the village of Mexico, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County.

Barring no unforeseen circumstances, the demolition of the old Oswego County Jail on East River Road will be completed by the end of November. Members of the County Legislature are looking at several options for future use of the property.

A Christmas craft show fundraiser will be held on November 29 from noon to 4 p.m. and November 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Silver Star Union Hall on 701 Hannibal St. All proceeds to benefit the programs of the Mental Health Association of Oswego County.

ARISE recently held a reception at The Make Sense Shop in Pulaski to celebrate 10 years of service in Pulaski. ARISE received a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of Senator Pattie Ritchie from Jimmy Hayes as well as a Citation presented by (County Legislator) Terry Wilbur on behalf of Assemblyman Will Barclay.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is pleased to host its annual “Christmas at Sea” Open House on December 14 from 1- 4:30 p.m. Come and celebrate the holiday season in Oswego’s gaily decorated “Historic Maritime District.“ Munch on homemade cookies while enjoying our uniquely decorated holiday trees.

Students Asa Finch, Lauren Goss and Anthony Lucas rounded out the top three spellers, with Lucas coming in first place by successfully spelling the word “calypso.”

The Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County is excited to announce an open house to celebrate and showcase our new location. The open house will take place on December 2 from 4-7 p.m. at 157 Liberty St., Oswego.

Students from Brewerton Elementary School connected with students at an International School in Prague, Czech Republic, for a Monster Match distance learning connection recently and for one teacher, it was a homecoming of sorts.

Sandy Creek Middle School’s Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society held a new member induction ceremony on November 23. Thirteen members joined the 17 current members, in the prestigious group which recognizes outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
