Proud veterans gathered to reminisce, share their experiences and honor their fellow veterans as Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego hosted a Veterans’ Day Luncheon to recognize its residents that bravely served their country in the United States Armed Forces.
Continental Arms Collectors Association held its annual Military and Naval Exhibit at the Oswego Elks Lodge, Veterans’ Day Dinner, on November 7. The CACA program was sponsored by the Oswego Elks Lodge and Vashaw’s Collision Service.
Third grade students at Minetto Elementary School recently created a variety of projects they made for Fiction Fest. The fest included students from throughout the third grade.
The “Gone With The Wind” fundraiser event for the Oswego County Historical Society/Richardson Bates House Museum will take place tonight (Nov. 13) at Oswego Cinema 7. The movie will start at 6:30 p.m. It is nearly sold out.
November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. The vigil will be held on the porch of The Press Box on East First Street from 5-7 p.m. and will continue into the restaurant for munchies and support for anyone who has been touched by pancreatic cancer.
Students in Robyn Yorker’s Stepping Stones Day Program class recently participated in a project designed to teach both physical and behavioral adaptions. The students were learning about brown bats, flying mammals popular throughout Central New York. Al LaFrance, a specialist in bat colony removal, was a special guest host for the students and offered insight into the world of bats.
To offer patients comfort during their chemotherapy treatments, several Oswego Hospital departments, with help from the company, Thirty-One, created 44 attractive bags that are brimming with useful and soothing supplies. There are gloves and socks to keep hands and feet warm, word search puzzles to keep the mind occupied and candy for a little treat.
On Friday, November 21, there will be no school for students in grades Pre-K through grade 6 in the Fulton City School District.
Several SUNY Oswego students from the area took part in off-campus internships this fall through the college’s Center for Experiential Learning.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 in the APW Junior/Senior High School auditorium. The induction is open to the public and family and friends of the inductees are invited to attend.
