Hannibal Historical Society Meeting To Feature Phones

The Hannibal Historical Society will begin its 2014-2015 season with a business meeting on September 22 at 6 p.m. at the Hannibal Community Center on Oswego Street in the village. At 7 p.m., Alec Seymour of Fulton will show part of his large collection of antique telephones, telephone memorabilia and pictures.

Shallit, Spindler to reawaken Romantic Period with violin, piano

Violinist Jon Shallit of the SUNY Oswego music department will pair with pianist Howard Spindler in a Focus on Faculty concert that seeks to evoke the meaning of the Romantic Period in music at 3 p.m. Sept. 14, in Sheldon Hall ballroom. “I’ve tried to select pieces that convey the real meaning — the depth — of the period,” Shallit said of the concert, titled “The Romantic Spirit.”

Jonah and The Big Fish To Be Staged At Minetto UMC

Parishioners of the Minetto United Methodist Church will gather for Rally Day on September 7 at 10 a.m. Children are asked to bring their backpacks to be blessed by the pastor. The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Mary Lou Carpenter-Bjorkman and accompanied by Kathy Duschen, will present Jonah and The Big Fish, a short musical play with Pastor Chuck Forbes as Jonah.

SUNY Oswego Metro Center to present ‘Nature Moments’ exhibition

The first fall art exhibition for the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse will feature the work of Central New York artist Melissa Johnson. “Nature Moments: Paintings and Drawings” will run Sept. 11 to Oct. 11 at Tyler Art Gallery @ SUNY Oswego Metro Center in The Atrium, 2 Clinton Square in Syracuse. A free public reception with the artist will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Metro Center.
