The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is taking reservations for Camp Hollis and Camp Zerbe for the 2015 season. Camp Hollis and Camp Zerbe are owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. The facilities are available May through October for use by families, wedding parties, youth groups, clubs, school groups and other organizations.
Attendees to the Child Advocacy Center’s Inaugural Fiesta Masquerade will have a chance to win a beautiful diamond pendant necklace courtesy of JP Jewelers in Oswego. Valued at $150, the diamond pendant necklace is one of the grand prizes in CAC’s Piñata Contest.
On October 18, First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St., will offer a community spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. until sold out. The menu will include: salad, spaghetti, meatballs, dinner roll, dessert, and hot and cold drinks. The adult cost is $8. Children under 12 are $6. Money raised will go toward meeting the needs of the church kitchen.
Following a picnic lunch, residents enjoyed a healthy snack of fresh picked apples and left with bags of apples for themselves and other residents. The outing was one of the many that Morningstar offers to its residents.
A sculptor’s iron pour will light up the night at SUNY Oswego, starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 16. Artist Edward Kelley of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa — one of six sculptors whose work was chosen for a new outdoor exhibition at the college — will demonstrate the fiery skill used by sculptors working with ferrous metals.
Oswego City School District’s Audit Committee will meet on October 7. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m.
The Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall will host the event, providing seating for up to 1,300 from the campus and community to watch live as Al Roker, Charlie Rose, Connie Schultz and Dennis Thatcher respond to panel moderator Ken Auletta’s incisive questions during a discussion titled “Is the Digital Revolution a Blessing or a Curse? Or Both?”
Harvest season means that turkey will highlight the menu at the annual Harvest Turkey Dinner at the Minetto United Methodist Church on October 18 beginning at 4 p.m. Customers who prefer to eat at home can go inside for carryout service or use the drive-through take-out line. They just pull into the parking lot from Empire Avenue and give their order to an attendant who radios it inside.
At the recent Housing Fair in SUNY Oswego’s Marano Campus Center, a number of local landlords shared information about off-campus living and rental opportunities for students in 2015.
