The challenges and emotions that come with caregiving for an individiual with Alzheimer’s disease or other form of dementia can be overwhelming. The Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter invites local caregivers to join a community of their peers by attending a support group.
Four students from Pulaski High School were selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association Area All State Music Festival on November 14 and 15tat SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.
The Oswego Public Library’s Library Learning Center will offer a free introductory computer course: Photoshop Elements workshop on October 18 from 1 – 3 p.m.
With the help of Fajita Grill, the Oswego County Board of Realtors had a successful fundraiser Sept. 15 benefting its county-wide high school scholarship program. Through the OCBR, local Realtors have donated more than $40,000 in scholarship funds to college-bound students.
Former patients of Oswego County Hospice will be remembered at the annual Hospice memorial service at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Fulton Alliance Church, 1044 State Route 48. The public is invited to attend.
The three grant programs include Individual Artist Commissions, Community Arts Grants, and ArtStart Arts Education Grants that serve Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, or Oswego county residents.
UPDATE: On September 30, the students within the Fulton City School District in grades UPK – 12 will have an early dismissal. Grades 7 – 12 will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. and morning Pre-K – 6 will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. There will be no afternoon Pre-K classes.
During the two-day camp held in August, the students had the opportunity to learn first-hand about careers in the healthcare field. The 19 participating eighth and ninth grade students took part in rotations that included the hospital’s laboratory, medical imaging and pharmacy departments, where they took part in hands-on learning activities.
On September 12, ARC of Oswego County hosted a concert at West Linear Park. The band performing was Flame, a group of talented musicians from upstate New York who happen to have disabilities. The band has been featured on “Good Morning America” as well as “The Today Show.”
Have an experience you’ll always remember by being a Girl Scout volunteer! The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Inc. will hold an autumn mixer for adults to learn more about what being a Girl Scout volunteer is all about. As a volunteer you’ll introduce girls to new experiences which show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.
