The Fitzhugh Park Elementary School “Crafting for the Cure” proved to be a tremendous success. Students at the Oswego school gathered after school to design and construct a variety of craft items that culminated with a generous donation of over $1,000 to the Golisano Children’s Hospital and Oswego Oncology.

Oswego Health and the Oswego Kiwanis Club will hold their annual multi-organ blood analysis on August 2 at Leighton Elementary School in Oswego. The analysis screens individuals for various conditions such as anemia, diabetes, and others, as well as for coronary, kidney, and liver diseases.
On August 9, from noon – 5 p.m., come to the New Haven Fire Department and Firemen’s Field to see antique and modern vehicles and apparatus up close. The department is located at 4211 State Route 104, New Haven. Vehicles from across New York State and elsewhere will include horse- and hand-drawn, dating back to 1800s, as well as modern equipment and the Oswego County Fire Safety Trailer.
can’t go through my woods without gallons of Roundup because they are so infested with poison ivy and I am highly allergic. If I even look at it I seem to get it. But, my dogs run around in the woods all the time. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all. Should I be worried?

The First Rose of Summer, a novel by Eileen K. Parsons of Orwell, was recently awarded 2014 New York Book Festival Runner Up honors. Parsons received the award at the Grolier Club, founded in 1884, in New York City in June as part of an evening honoring festival winners.
