More than 40 years ago Rosemary Nesbitt penned a play about a 12-year-old boy involved in the war of 1812, in which Oswego settlers played a major role. Five years to the day after her passing and 200 years after the event, Oswego will travel back in time to revisit not only a great victory in the War of 1812, but also celebrate the life of the one who told us the tale of the great rope
Several county residents earned honors last semester at the college.
Carley Mills Community House will hold a rummage sale at 1236 County Route 84, Hastings, on July 18 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and July 19 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds go to Carley Mills Cemetery Association for repairs needed for the Community House.
The series opened on July 1 with a performance by the First United Methodist Church Praise Band, and continues each Tuesday throughout the month. Concerts are being scheduled for August.
The ceremony was held at Mohawk Valley Community College. Among the 16 graduates from eight departments throughout New York State were Oswego City firefighters Matthew K. Alton and Anthony D. Sterio.

Four candidates, Thomas Benedetto, Ed Izyk, Sal Lanza and Jim Eby all spoke and asked for the committee’s endorsement. However, the committee decided to let all go forward to an open primary on September 9.
The Hannibal American Legion will be holding a benefit for the family of Dylan Blair. The young man was tragically killed on June 17. A spaghetti dinner will be held at the Legion today
Fisher, a singer / songwriter, will be performing a variety of songs from her vast catalog, including her latest album, The Priest, a gift to the 31 seminarians ordained to the priesthood this past December in Rome, Italy, including her son, now Father Nicholas Fisher.
Working in collaboration with United Way of Greater Oswego County, other area school districts, and more than a dozen business and organizations, the annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects donations of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County.
