The Oswego City Fire Department and Oswego City Police Department will be hosting a free bicycle safety event for families on June 6 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Eastside Fire Station. Bring a bike if you have one. If not, there will be bikes to borrow. Two brand new bicycles from Murdock’s, donated by the Oswego Speedway and Chris Nelson Insurance, will be raffled off.
Volunteers at CNY Arts Centers were recently introduced to Project Linus and saw an obvious partnership between the charitable blanket organization and the current production of ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.’ The national mission of the non-profit Project Linus is to provide homemade security blankets to children in need.
The city of Fulton Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2014 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization through June 1. During the mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts, both during the day and night.
The Oswego Housing Development Council, located in Parish, and the County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning are looking for input from Oswego County residents who need assistance with housing repairs, septic system repairs, and other housing-related issues.

Sarah R. Argersinger of West Monroe has been awarded a St. Lawrence University Fellowship for a summer 2014 research project. A member of the Class of 2015 at St. Lawrence, Argersinger is majoring in English and Francophone studies. Argersinger graduated from Paul V. Moore High School.
Oswego County Opportunities recently honored Tom Mills with the agency’s Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award. Presented annually, OCO’s Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a volunteer who goes above and beyond in offering their time and talents to an OCO program.
Joey Occhino, owner of Vona’s Restaurant in Oswego, will provide the next Guest Chef Dinner at the Oswego County Salvation Army on June 3, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., for dining in or taking out, at the Citadel, 73 W. Second St., Oswego.
The Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office has announced the summer field day and parade schedule for 2014. Things start off with Lacona: May 29-31, parade May 31 at 7 p.m.
Senator Patty Ritchie is hosting her annual Oswego County Job Fair on June 4 at the Fulton War Memorial. The hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
