Oswego County families, educators and service providers will meet to explore how to better understand how to work effectively with children’s challenging behavior using collaborative problem solving at 6 p.m. today (June 11) in the New Haven Elementary School library.

Students named to the Dean’s List must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester, based on a 4.0 grade point system, and must have taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

Under the direction of Jim DeMauro, student musicians performed “Side Slippin,’” “Pepperoni Blues,” “I Beeped When I Should Have Bopped,” “Grabbin’ Some Air,” and “Don’t Miss the Bus.”

More than 800 accepted students have already indicated their commitment to attend SUNY Potsdam by submitting deposits. The group of incoming first-year students hail from across New York State and beyond. SUNY Potsdam’s Class of 2018 will begin classes in August 2014.

The pen pal picnic, held yearly between Rauri Downes’ class at Volney Elementary and Terry Merritt’s class at Lanigan, was an opportunity for the two classes to meet face to face for the first time.

Staff from across The St. Luke Family of Caring have been doing some extra walking around the healthcare campus lately in preparation for the upcoming Relay For Life event taking place June 13 and 14 at the Oswego High School track. The Relay For Live event raises money in support of the American Cancer Society and the battle to help end cancer.

This annual recognition began in 1963 in communities across the county and this year’s theme focuses on injury prevention and safety, and encourages older adults to protect themselves and remain active and independent for as long as possible.
