The annual Fulton Police Department Bicycle Rodeo will be held May 31 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The children will receive a new bicycle helmet, choose a used bicycle to keep (while supplies last) and ride through a police-directed obstacle course. More bicycles are needed to give away at the event.

The low-income wage earners in Oswego County is more than fifty percent and most of these jobs are service jobs such as fast food restaurants or similar. Many low-income families make just enough so that they do not qualify for assistance.

With only two more weeks until the 33rd annual Memorial Day Salute, CNY Arts Center is looking for help to express gratitude to veterans and service personnel when they host a talent show tribute onstage May 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Families participating in Oswego County Opportunities Head Start program in Oswego were recently treated to one of OCO’s Family Literacy Nights. Held at OCO’s Head Start classroom at Fort Ontario. Family Literacy Night offered an evening of fun activities based on well-known children’s books from acclaimed author Eric Carle.

Neighbors and friends worked two days to help clean up the Rathburn Road area of Oswego Town as part of the recent Earth Week observance. In addition to just regular litter, the group also collected sofas, doors and all kinds of paint cans.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Emily T. Kush graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. She is a 2011 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton.

Summer at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station will bring naturalist-guided walks on many Saturdays, self-guided tours of the 7,640-square-foot, energy-efficient new headquarters six days a week and, for children and teens, a return of two weeklong Exploring Nature sessions and the new Conservation Field Studies program.
