The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 17 at the American Legion located at 69 W. Bridge St. in Oswego. International speaker, author, and Christian Suicide Prevention founder Dawn J. Epting will be the guest speaker.
An astounding 184 students from grades five through eight were invited to the school’s third quarter character education celebration where they were recognized for earning high honor roll status, honor roll status or raising their grade point average at least five points in the last quarter.
Michael Holcomb and Julia Ludington have been named the Class of 2014’s valedictorian and salutatorian at G.Ray Bodley High School.
“Talking to children about certain dangers to their personal safety makes many adults uneasy,” said Sheriff Reuel A. Todd of Oswego County. “However, as adults, it is our obligation to talk to our children to teach them how to protect themselves.”
On May 10, Jessica Parker from Central Square, NY, graduated from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

Oswego County Opportunities’ Education Services programs participated in the third World Book Night U.S. on April 23 to help spread the love of reading. World Book Night promotes reading by providing free books to light or non-readers.
For seniors and older adults the results of falling can bring devastating consequences. In an effort to help prevent falls and help frail elders achieve better balance the Rural Health Network of Oswego County established the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition.
“Together we can beat diabetes!” Those are the words that Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District Physical Therapist Daniel Pone said as he high-fived each first grade student in the district’s elementary school during a celebration to honor the students for their participation in a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association.
The 24th Annual Lady Buccaneer Softball Mini Camp will be held June 30 – July 2 at the Oswego High School fields for girls ages 9-16 who want to sharpen their skills and have some softball fun.
