This year commemorates the 70th anniversary of D-Day, which began June 6, 1944. The marine museum will honor this event by holding a series of programs on June 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A history presentation, WWII re-enactments and WWII exhibits will be featured all day.

On Friday May 9, 2014, at about 11:38 p.m., a Great Lakes trolley was turning left onto State Route 104 (Bridge Street) from West Seneca Street. During this turn our trolley contacted two individuals who were crossing the street on foot. Our driver immediately stopped the trolley and contacted the appropriate authorities.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 17 at the American Legion located at 69 W. Bridge St. in Oswego. International speaker, author, and Christian Suicide Prevention founder Dawn J. Epting will be the guest speaker.

An astounding 184 students from grades five through eight were invited to the school’s third quarter character education celebration where they were recognized for earning high honor roll status, honor roll status or raising their grade point average at least five points in the last quarter.

Michael Holcomb and Julia Ludington have been named the Class of 2014’s valedictorian and salutatorian at G.Ray Bodley High School.
