Volney Elementary School held a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Reward Day for students on April 25. The reward day recognized students for being role models of the school’s four behavioral expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe and Be a Problem Solver.
Leadership Oswego County Youth is accepting applications for its 16th year of youth leadership training experience. The program is open to all high school students in Oswego County. Preference is given to those entering their freshman or sophomore year who have shown leadership potential and a desire to learn.
Steven Maynard of Pulaski has been accepted to Cornell College, a private liberal arts college located in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Maynard was also awarded the Founders Scholarship.
The screenings are being offered to those concerned about their hearing, who are not currently wearing hearing aids or have not been diagnosed with a hearing loss. The month of May is also celebrated as Better Hearing and Speech Month. The free screenings will be available to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 22 at Oswego Hospital.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Hosted by Delta Kappa Kappa Inc., in collaboration with SUNY Oswego’s Men’s Varsity Ice Hockey team, the ‘For the Kids’ fundraiser was the culmination of a campaign created by SUNY Oswego students Denvol Haye, president of DKK, and Eli Kim Swallow, a forward on the SUNY Oswego Men’s Ice Hockey Team, to raise money for the CAC and to help raise awareness of child abuse in Oswego County.
Members of the Frederick Leighton Elementary School Student Council conducted their annual “candy-gram” fundraiser. They were able to donate $125 to the Oswego Animal Shelter.
Carolyn Handville, program coordinator for Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership, has announced that Dr Padma Ram Medical Services in Oswego is the newest member of the partnership and joins the Cancer Services Program’s network of more than 25 health care provider offices throughout the county.
The Oswego Children’s Theater will be hosting auditions for its next production, “Shrek the Musical,” on May 13 from 5 until 8 p.m. and May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. with the first rehearsal scheduled for May 17 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The auditions will be held at the New Haven Congregational Church, located on Route 104 East, between Oswego and Mexico.
