The Mock DWI program, done in cooperation with many agencies and offices in Oswego County, is held every other year at the school and timed to be just prior to the prom. The accident scenario’s timing was intentional and served as a dramatic reminder of what can happen when a person chooses to either get behind the wheel of a car after drinking, or chooses to ride in a car when the driver has been drinking.
On May 17 from 2 – 4 p.m., State Street UMC, 357 State St., will hold a reception of celebration at the church site. We have been designated as an historical site by both New York State and federal. State Street had its beginnings in 1809 and have shared a rich and interesting history.
The theme for the month was “Mental Health Awareness and Support.” ROC chose this topic because it is often an “overlooked but extremely crucial component to personal health and well being (and) we wanted to showcase the groups and organizations that were at the forefront in this area,” said Brandon Morey, ROC co-chair.
The USAT Sanctioned Splash & Dash is a youth aquathlon consisting of a timed 200-yard indoor swim followed by a 1.6-mile run where youth athletes will run side-by-side with adult triathletes to the event’s finish line in Breitbeck Park.

This week we want to talk about what to do if the worst case scenario happens and your dog comes up missing. First, panic! Then get over that and start working. There are many steps you can take to locate your missing dog.
MC King was inducted as a new member of Oswego Rotary by President Sue Witmer. King is the plant manager at Oswego’s Dynegy Power Generation plant.
With a focus on always doing the right thing, 22 Fairgrieve Elementary School students were recognized with awards during the Morning Express program held April 29. Principal Jean Ciesla presented the students with medals as they celebrated the distinction of being a Principal’s Award winner.
Sandy Creek High School is the Oswego County Academic Youth League overall 2013-2014 champion. The last time the school was awarded this distinction was in the 1997-98 school year. Sandy Creek placed in three of this year’s competitions, nabbing one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C is pleased to announce the Baby of the Month for January. Kyle Calkins was born to Lindsay and Bradley Calkins of Oswego on January 21. The February Baby of the Month is Madison Haynes born to Stephanie and Matthew Haynes of Fulton.
Students in the meteorology department visited the club last fall presenting a program on the SUNY program and their plans to be storm chasers and researchers during the winter months tracking lake effect snow in Central New York.
