Superintendent Ben Halsey and business administrator Nancy Squairs from the Oswego City School District were guests of Oswego Rotary recently. They presented the 2014/2015 school budget in anticipation of the May 20 vote.

Oswego County AmeriCorps is currently accepting applications for a variety of summer positions. AmeriCorps is a national service program. Locally, Oswego County AmeriCorps members provide fitness and nutrition activities for youth as well as manage volunteers who work with youth.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum is gearing up for an exciting season full of events, new exhibits and even the first Lake Ontario CNY Lighthouse Challenge. The museum will open its vessels on May 17 in celebration of the new season. There will be free admission to explore the museum as well as tour the historic vessels, the LT-5 and Derrick Boat 8.
The Perry House, later the Perry Inn, located on top of Perry Hill, Route 104 West in Fruit Valley will be the topic of the May Oswego Town Historical Society meeting. The meeting will be held on May 21 at 6:30 p.m.
The annual Fulton Police Department Bicycle Rodeo will be held May 31 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The children will receive a new bicycle helmet, choose a used bicycle to keep (while supplies last) and ride through a police-directed obstacle course. More bicycles are needed to give away at the event.
The low-income wage earners in Oswego County is more than fifty percent and most of these jobs are service jobs such as fast food restaurants or similar. Many low-income families make just enough so that they do not qualify for assistance.
With only two more weeks until the 33rd annual Memorial Day Salute, CNY Arts Center is looking for help to express gratitude to veterans and service personnel when they host a talent show tribute onstage May 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
