Oswego High School artist Brenna Riley won the “Best of Show” with her beautiful self-portrait graphite drawing “Oliver” while Carrie Gilbert and won “First Place “overall with her amazing detail drawing “Clarinet” at the Oswego County Student Art Competition. This competition, which is open to all Oswego County school districts, attracted more than 500 art pieces.
During the long winter months we might be tempted to think about spring and summer in far off, distant ways. But really, the good times of summer are not that far away starting with Fulton’s Memorial Day Salute May 24.
AmeriCorps member Yomara Vasquez works with the Migrant Education Outreach Program at Oswego County BOCES as part of her service with AmeriCorps.
The curriculum for the HEMO program is aligned with the National Utility Contractors Association, and provides Adult Education students an opportunity to prepare for careers in the commercial and/or residential construction industry through classroom and hands-on training.
ARISE and Ride for Ramps will take place on May 31 at Lighthouse Lanes. The event features a motorcycle ride, 5K run, and the chance for kids to ride their bikes at the Speedway. There will be a chicken BBQ, along with other food, lots of activities for the whole family, and great raffle items.
Recognizing Oswego County has selected the river’s end bookstore as the Community Champion for March. The theme for this month was Literacy Awareness.
The “Class of 2013” will be inducted into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame on April 26 at the Oswego County Club. The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters Club continues its support of the Hall of Fame as the sixth class will be introduced and inducted as members will have their plaques placed on the “Wall of Fame” in the Oswego High School lobby.
A Common Core/College and Career Readiness night was held March 28 at the Fulton Junior High School, lead by English teachers Michelle Klatt and Jenn Meloling and guidance counselor Kelly Rickert.
Hard work, training and dedication have helped propel John C. Birdlebough High School senior Haylie Virginia to the next level, as she recently signed her letter of intent to attend Canisius College in the fall.
