Applications are currently being accepted for summer jobs at Camp Hollis. Camp Hollis is a children’s residential camp owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
Several area residents have been named to the President’s List for the fall 2013 semester at SUNY Oswego. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the President’s List, the top 7.7 of Oswego students.
The Move Along Flyers Wheelchair Basketball Team will face off against teachers from the Fulton City School District on Friday. A winter dance will be held following the game for all participants and audience members. The event will be held at the Fulton Junior High School on Curtis Street and will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Leah A. Weiss of Oswego has been named to the Dean’s List at Western New England for the fall semester of 2013. Weiss is majoring in Pre-Pharmacy.
Members of the Boating Industries Association of Upstate New York have earned their NYS Boating Safety Certificates to set a good example for others now required by state law to complete the training.
Fulton Noon Rotarian Judy Young presented a check to Oswego County Salvation Army director Major James Purvis to help support the Red Kettle program.
The painting of the U.S. Brig Oneida began its tour recently at Brewerton Elementary School. Created by award-winning local artist Tim Ames, in collaboration with naval historians Dr. Gary Gibson and Col. Clayton Nans, the artwork commemorates an interesting fact about Oswego’s role in the War of 1812.
Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner (District 13, New Haven) announced appointments to the County Legislature’s standing committees for 2014. The seven committees oversee departments of county government and make budgetary and policy recommendations to the full Legislature.
To be included on the Deans’ List, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.
Parents of Special Children, Inc., will be hosting a free workshop on “Understanding Diploma & Credential Options” for parents and guardians of students of disabilities. This training, being offered through SUPAC, will provide families with important information to help them understand these options to become an active participant in the transition planning process.
