The following evening the Friends of the Library will host a talk by Mike Goldych entitled Enriched Uranium Fission — Iran and the Nuclear Program at 6:30 p.m. On March 18, another talk will be held. Caitlin Sawyer of Oswego, a public relations and dance student at Hofstra University, joined hundreds of college students from 45 institutions across New York State at the capitol building in Albany to advocate for support of student financial aid programs as part of New York Student Aid Alliance Advocacy Day on Feb. 11.
Dan Tryon, a SUNY Oswego technology education faculty member, said the robotics team he helped form with another parent last fall did not dream of making it to the VEX Robotics World championships in April. Recognizing the fast-growing robotics challenges as a “gateway” to drawing secondary-school students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, Tryon and Dr. Mark Humphrey last October put together Freezing Code, a team of eighth- to 10th-graders, with long-term academic goals in mind.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.
