Students at Granby Elementary School have made friends with a BFF – a Bucket Filling Fairy. A BFF and a color cast of characters made a stop at the school last week to perform the character-building play ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today.’ The play is based on Carol McCloud’s award-winning book Have You Filled a Bucket Today, which introduces young readers to the concepts of bucket-filling and bucket-dipping.
Gerald Seguin, director of facilities, operations and transportation for the Fulton City School District, was the guest speaker at the Jan. 16 meeting of the Fulton Lions Club. Seguin reviewed the details of $4.4 million in capital improvement projects that the district will bring before residents in a Feb. 4 referendum vote
The event was held January 17 and 18 held at Pulaski High School. Students were selected based upon an audition held during December evaluating their knowledge of scales, preparation of a technical and musical selection and sight-reading. The honor ensemble, representing the nine school districts in Oswego County, was under the baton of West Canada Valley Band Director, Shane Bonney.
The Oswego Opera Theater and Artistic Director Mack Richardson will present Rigoletto – The Oswego Story, on February 21st and 23rd at SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theatre in Tyler Hall.
The OCO “Retro Bowl” is the theme for the agency’s annual bowling tournament fund raiser. Set for April 5, from noon – 6 p.m. at Lakeview Lanes, this popular event will raise money to help feed the hungry throughout Oswego County.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m with an executive session and it is anticipated the board of education members and administration will return to public session at 6 p.m.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian David Nethercott introduced our exchange student from Brazil, Fabiane Fernandes da Silva. Fabiane provided a delightful and well organized presentation and video of her trip to New York City.
Applications are currently being accepted for summer jobs at Camp Hollis. Camp Hollis is a children’s residential camp owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
Several area residents have been named to the President’s List for the fall 2013 semester at SUNY Oswego. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the President’s List, the top 7.7 of Oswego students.
