Local independent filmmakers are planning to screen their first film on November 27 at 7 p.m. The screening will be held at the McCrobie building at 41 Lake St., and is open to the public, free of charge.

Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Karrie Damm announced that Norene Cook has joined the staff as an administrative assistant. Cook, who previously worked as a human resources coordinator and administrative assistant at the Miller Brewing facility in Fulton, had most recently worked in the customer service department at Kohl’s Department Store.

The Fulton Family YMCA hosted a great Halloween event which was enjoyed by many families in the community. The event has taken place for the past 8 years and grows in attendance each year. YMCA members and community participants were treated to hay rides, crafts, face painting, haunted displays, swamp monsters in the pool, DJ entertaining with music and mummy wraps, cookie decorating and refreshments and treats.

Using a scale to measure 1 kilogram of rice into Ziploc bags, students in Deb Kenney’s third-grade class at Fairley Elementary School learned about partitioning, decomposing and illustrating various problems during a lesson Thursday.

Exceptional Education students in Mary Ryan’s class were recently treated to an outing to the Pet Supply Store on Main Street in Mexico. Students have been learning about animal classification, living environments, what foods different animals eat and how they survive in the wild.

Guidance Counselor Barb Carroll said, “A group of OHS counselors recently took a several students to the Construction Career Day at the New York State Fairgrounds. Youth is vital to the construction industry. Today’s high school students represent the pool of workers from which the construction industry will recruit its future workforce.”

The “Arts in the heART” Gallery, CNY Arts Center’s downtown Fulton venue is hosting an open mic night for local artists. On Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. the gallery, which is located in the heart of Fulton, on 47 S. First St., across from the city’s gazebo, will provide a welcome atmosphere for local artists to share their talent.

At a recent Fulton Noon Rotary Club meeting, Superintendent of Schools Bill Lynch introduced the Fulton School District’s Director of Student Support Services, Geri Geitner. Geri informed us that a successful support program should assist students in successful learning achievement.

Oswego County Historical Society president Justin White and board of trustees member Peg McKinstry guided the student actors on a tour of the lavish home, tying in references to the world Lizzie Borden and her contemporaries populated in Fall River, Mass., circa 1892.
