Two of New York State’s leading experts in tourism marketing and heritage sites will be keynote speakers at the Oct. 22 Visitor Readiness Workshop for museums, historic sites and cultural organizations.

APW Elementary School hosted two curriculum nights in early October for students and their family members. The first curriculum night event was for students in the school’s primary grades, universal pre-kindergarten through grade two, and the second for students in the school’s intermediate grades, grades three through six.
For the second consecutive year, the Youth Firearms Deer Hunt will take place on Columbus Day Weekend, October 12-14. This event is made possible in part by legislation Assemblyman Barclay co-sponsored in 2008 to expand big game hunting for junior hunters.
The Friends of Quirk’s Players will be sponsoring a spaghetti dinner this Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Fulton Polish Home. The event includes a delicious pasta meal, baked goods, gift baskets, entertainment and a TV raffle.
There will be a fundraiser Oct. 13 for Ed Hoffman, a retired Fulton police officer who lost his battle with cancer last month. The fundraiser, an all-you-can-eat chicken and pasta dinner, will be held at Thunder Island Oasis, 21 Wilcox Road, Fulton, from 1 to 5 p.m. A memorial service for the former Fulton resident will be held at Holy Trinity Parish on October 14 at 9:30 a.m.
On October 20, starting at 2 p.m., First United Church of Fulton will show another enjoyable movie well suited to older adults. There is no charge. Popcorn and soda are provided as well.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County’s Fourth Annual Oswego County Harvest Dinner will have many highlights, including delicious local foods, an award-winning speaker, and a fun and plentiful raffle of local goods. An early highlight of the raffle items is a handmade “American Farmland” cross-stich done by Johanna DeLong of Mexico.
Harvest season means that turkey will highlight the menu at the annual Harvest Turkey Dinner at the Minetto United Methodist Church on October 19 beginning at 4 p.m.
Customers who prefer to eat at home can go inside for carryout service or use the drive-through take-out line.
