The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.

At a recent meeting of the Fulton Noon Rotary Club, Rotarian William Lynch, Scholarship committee member, presented two one-year college scholarships to  Michelle Gorea and Kate Rothrock. Michelle is going to Binghamton in pre-health and will enroll as a nurse with a goal to be a Nurse Practitioner. Kate is going to Nazareth College in the nursing program.

Sarah R. Argersinger, of West Monroe, is participating in St. Lawrence University’s International Study Program for the fall 2013 semester. Argersinger, a member of the class of 2015 at St. Lawrence, is majoring in English and Francophone studies.

Constellation Energy Nuclear Group is a $2,000 sponsor of the seventh annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest. This annual benefit for Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County takes place on Sept. 20 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge.

School taxes for the district will be collected from September 1 through October 1, 2013 without penalty. Tax payments received from October 2 through October 31 will be assessed with a two percent (2%) penalty. Tax payments will not be accepted after October 31, 2013.

Staff at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton held a benefit recently on behalf of the Fulton Salvation Army, with donations earmarked to help purchase food and supplies for the Salvation Army’s food pantry.

According to District Superintendent Donna J. Fountain, the Hannibal Central School district is enthusiastically beginning a strategic planning process designed to create specific goals and strategies that will guide the district over the next five years. The strategic plan will consist of a core team of approximately 30 members with representation from parents, staff, administrators and members of the community.

On Tuesday (August 27) the Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet in the Anthony Murabito Media Center at Oswego High School beginning at 5 p.m. The board will immediately move to executive session at 5 p.m. and it expected that the public portion of the meeting will reconvene at 5:30 p.m.

The Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter offers peer- or professionally led groups for caregivers and others dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.
