The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau will sponsor several performances in July through the Traveling Arts in the Parks series. Each event is free and open to the public. Wade Live performs at 10 a.m. July 10 at the Fulton War Memorial and at 1:30 p.m. at the David C Webb Memorial Park at Taft Bay, Constantia.
The second weekend run of Oswego Players’ summer musical, ‘Mame’ will start July 12 at 8 p.m. and play Saturday, again at 8, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Directed by Inez Manor Parker and Abel Searor, it is a visual and vocal delight.
Rev. Richard Sivers, former pastor of the Minetto United Methodist Church, will give a presentation on July 14 at 2 p.m., at the Minetto church, on his recent solo trip to Eastern Europe. The public is cordially invited to the free presentation.
The third concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held July 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park in Oswego. These concerts are provided free to the public by The City of Oswego and The Musicians Union of Oswego County.
As the school year wound down the Frederick Leighton Elementary School recognized numerous students including all of the sixth graders who advanced to continue their academic career at the Oswego Middle School.
The CNY Arts Center is offering the next in its monthly series of Author Spotlights. The center offers the spotlight series to help promote writing by local authors and to encourage other writers to pursue publishing their work. On July 17 at 7 p.m., local author and writing instructor, Jim Farfaglia, will share excerpts from his latest book of poems, People, Places and Things: The Powerful Nouns of My Life.
Pathfinder Bank received the 2013 Ally Award, which is presented each year to an organization which makes a significant contribution to the economic development process in Oswego County.
The Youth Advocate Program of Oswego County will host a Community Day event on August 3 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Foster Park. All Oswego County community members, as well as former and current YAP families are invited to attend.
Several students were nominated for the STARR Character Award at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School.
Golfers participating in the 18th Annual United Way Golf Classic will have the chance to drive away a winner. Burritt Motors of Oswego is sponsoring the event’s hole-in-one contest.
