Victory for Abbott’s Tae Kwon Do at Master Kim’s Super Cup

Missing: Mikayla Abbott, Makenzie Barlow, Taylor Elowsky, Adrian Nevil, and Wyatt Welotok.This spring, Mexico’s own Abbott’s Oh Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do triumphed at Master Kim’s Super Cup Competition. Of the eighteen Abbott competitors, nine gold medals were achieved, eleven silver medals, and three bronze medals. One student, advanced brown belt eleven-year-old Kiara Richer, took home the Grand Trophy for winning the gold in all three events of board break, poomse and sparring.

Second Concert Set for Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series

The second concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park in Oswego. These concerts are provided free to the public by the city of Oswego and The Musicians Union of Oswego County. The Concert Band, under the direction of Kevin Upcraft, will be performing this week.

Young Musicians Share Talents with Seniors

In back row:  Ellie Lisec, Abigail Douglas, Olivia DeLorenzo, Claire Richardson and Lauren Jones.A group of local Oswego students ranging in ages recently performed in a showcase entitled “Rising Star Musicians” at Bishop’s Commons Enriched Living Residence. Sharing their musical talents, students performed solo acts playing a variety of instruments for residents to enjoy. While many performed on the piano, the show also featured musical pieces played by students on their violins, saxophones, flutes, and clarinets. The program was just one of the many inter-generational opportunities that take place at Bishop’s Commons between seniors and children.
