Participants in Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program, recently volunteered their time to clean up the area along the shore of Lake Neatahwanta behind the Fulton War Memorial. The cleanup day was one of the many community projects that CYO participants are involved in.
The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center celebrates Lighthouse Weekend on August 3 and 4 beginning with a Lighthouse Stamping event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on August 3. A recently released series of New England Lighthouse stamps by the US Postal Service will be offered for sale along with specialty envelopes and postcards.
More than 1,500 students have reserved places as freshmen at SUNY Oswego. Fall classes will begin Aug. 26.
Sandy Creek Elementary School is scheduled to hold its open house on Sept. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. The open house is scheduled the day before the 2013-2014 school year starts.
Fulton’s Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary and Sunrise Rotary clubs have again partnered with tournament title sponsor Eastern Shore Associates Insurance for the ‘Swing 4 Service’ Fourth Annual Golf Open, Aug. 17 at Emerald Crest Golf Course, Palermo.
To be eligible for the Dean’s List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.
The Big Latch On is a community building event held every August to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week. It involves groups of breastfeeding women coming together at registered locations around the world to all “latch on” (breastfeed) their child or children at a set time. The Big Latch On – Oswego will be held on August 3 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Florida firefighters started the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club in the late 1990s and there are now chapters across the U.S. The NY-PA Great Lakes Seaway Trail is home to Region 6 Station 222 in Auburn, which will host its North-East Regional Rally called ‘Ride the Lightning’ July 25-28.
