Cazenovia College recently released names of students honored for academic achievement during the spring semester of 2013.
First grade students at Fairgrieve Elementary School recently held a very special reading celebration. School Librarian Barb Senecal honored the first grade students for their reading achievements and their participation in the Accelerated Reader program this school year with a Teddy Bear Picnic.
Parents and family members along with BOCES and component school district officials gathered for the distinguished ceremony to celebrate the students’ accomplishments and educational achievements as they prepare for careers in police science, security, surveillance, corrections, emergency medical response, and firefighting.
The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH), Dean Michael Barry Division 1, partnered with the Oswego Human Concerns Center recently, by gathering and donating non-perishable food items.
Motorcyclists and runners came together on June 8 to raise more than $11,000 in net proceeds at ARISE’s annual Ride for Ramps event at Fort Ontario. The money raised through the event will mean that ARISE will be able to build ramps for at least 10 families in the community.
The G. Ray Bodley Class of 1968 will hold its 45th reunion, one-day event on August 10 from 1-5 p.m. at Fulton Elks on Pierce Drive, Fulton. There will be a chicken barbecue and all the fixin’s! $15 per person. Reservations needed by July 1.
The Sandy Creek Varsity Girls’ Softball team may have lost their bid to be State Champions, but that did not dim their accomplishments in the eyes of their school, their coaches, their families and their community. In a district Board of Education recognition ceremony, they were honored for their accomplishments including the Section III Championship title.
Dr. Paula Banerjee, an associate professor of South and Southeast Asian studies at the University of Calcutta, was awarded the Fulbright grant by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board to spend the coming fall semester at Oswego and the spring 2014 semester at Onondaga in Syracuse.
Rev. Mark and Lynne Kimpland have served the First United Methodist Church and the Fulton community for the last 18 years. “Our time in Fulton has been a wonderful blessing full of opportunities, challenges and above all, it’s unlimited potential,” Pastor Mark said. “We will forever treasure the relationships, ministries and Fulton’s unique sense of community.” Rev. Kimpland has been reappointed to the Endwell United Methodist Church in Endwell, NY and will begin his ministry July 1.
