Students are named to the Dean’s List if they have achieved a G.P.A of 3.6 or higher, and are recognized at Opening Convocation held in the Fall semester.
Trevor Mercier is eight years old and has Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (brain tumor). He was first diagnosed in 2008 and was just short of four years cancer free when an MRI in May of 2012 showed that his tumor had returned. A benefit will be held July 20 starting at 2 p.m. at the Oswego Hibernians, 22 Munn St.
The fourth concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held July 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park. These concerts are provided free to the public by the city of Oswego and the Musicians Union of Oswego County. The Concert Band, under the direction of Trevor Jorgensen, will be performing this week.
Elyse Cianfarano was a recipient of the Dean’s Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Cianfarano is a member of the Class of 2015 and studies Sociology & Anthropology.
Fundraiser to be held for four-year-old John Lewis on Sept. 15 at the Fulton Polish Home. The hours will be from noon to 5 p.m. Little John has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.
The Fulton Family YMCA’s annual “Loop around the Lake” is approaching. This race is comprised of a 15-kilometer run, a five-kilometer run, and a five-kilometer walk. The Loop’s 15K/5K Run and 5K Walk, start at 8:30 a.m. at the Fulton War Memorial on August 24.
The Kids and Trucks event, sponsored by the Friends of Camp Hollis, is a family event which features all sorts of construction vehicles, fire trucks, tow trucks and other big rigs for children to climb on and see up close and personal.
State Senator Patty Ritchie visited Phoenix Public Library this week to announce a special $3,000 grant she secured for the library. Phoenix Public Library was one of 25 libraries and two library networks in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties to share $85,000 in special funding.
The SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23. People interested in enhancing their careers can meet with select program directors to learn about part-time study options offered at the Metro Center in The Atrium, 2 Clinton Square.
