New York Agriculture in the Classroom’s eighth annual New York Agricultural Literacy Week was held in March throughout Oswego County. Community members volunteered to read “The Beeman,” by Laurie Krebs and Valeria Cis, to local elementary classrooms. This book rhyming text and colorful illustrations presented all of the aspects of beekeeping.
The school district will host a Title I Parent Advisory meeting on April 18. It will be held from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Fulton Education Center, 167 S. Fourth St.
Singer-songwriter, David Wilcox, is coming to Oswego next month. He is all set to perform in the McCrobie Building at the Oswego Music Hall on May 4. Wilcox is very well-respected in the guitarist community and has an incredibly loyal fan following.
Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is preparing for its Annual Spring Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held April 26 and 27 at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton. Hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.
It is not only illegal, but extremely unsafe, to pass a school bus with their red lights flashing, whether approaching from the front or from the rear of the bus. Flashing lights signal that a bus is stopped for either loading or discharging students.
The Fulton City Republican Committee will hold its annual chicken barbeque at the Fulton Polish Home on April 20. Chicken dinner tickets are available from Fulton committee members. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. or all gone, which ever comes first.
On Wednesday, Most Illustrious Richard C. Anderson and six members of the New York Grand Council visited Central City Council No. 13 Cryptic Masons at the Masonic Lodge in Liverpool.
The bench, valued at $1,260, is just one of the many items that will be available for bid during the Oswego Community Christian School’s sixth annual auction to be held April 20 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, corner of West Fifth and Bridge streets.
Researcher Steve Wapen will present first history lecture of 2013 at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Oswego’s H. Lee White Marine Museum. The topic will be “Remembering United Nations Week, 1943 Oswego Celebration” and the program is free and open to the public.
SUNY Oswego’s On Screen/In Person film series will wrap up its season April 18, at Oswego Cinema 7 with a collection of six films titled “What We Need Is the Impossible!” The show will start at 7 p.m. at the movie theatre, 138 W. Second St., followed by a question-and-answer session with the films’ director, Sam Green.
