It’s no secret.  These days, it seems a lot harder to make ends meet—especially for families. From food and putting gas in the car to medical bills and keeping a roof over one’s head, staying afloat can be a challenge.

Jillian O’Brien of Oswego has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2012-13 fall semester at Geneva College. Dean’s List status is awarded to students who earn a 3.6 grade point average or better.

The cast of Sandy Creek High School’s spring musical production of “Wonderland” are busy preparing for its March 15 and 16 show dates. Show times are 7:30 p.m. each day.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will hold a volunteer orientation for retired or semi-retired adults at 10 a.m. March 19, in the Oswego Public Library’s community room.

Bowlers, fans, friends and family members and all fun-loving fund raiser followers are invited to the “Lucky 13” Bowl-A-Fun on April 13, at Lakeview Lanes. This is the 12th annual fund-raising bowling tournament hosted by Oswego County Opportunities.

Melanie Trexler, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County has announced that the NBT Bank will serve as the official sponsor for the United Way’s Annual Meeting and Salute to Volunteers.

At a recent Fulton Rotary Club meeting, Rotarian Rev. David Cramer introduced Jennifer Burgess from the Oswego County Department of Social Services. Burgess spoke to the Rotarians on the matter of Foster Care and Adoptive Services in Oswego County.

The APW Winter Guard will host its annual ‘Preview of Champions’ winter guard competition on March 9 beginning at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium at the APW Jr./Sr. High School. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for senior citizens (age 65+) and for children under 10.
