March For Meals is a national campaign during the month of March, initiated by the Meals On Wheels Association of America, which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community.

A new T-shirt depicting the 1814 battle at Fort Ontario will be on sale at the Oswego War of 1812 Symposium April 5 through 7 at the Lake Ontario Conference and Event Center in Oswego.

Rotarian Judy Young presented G. Ray Bodley high school senior Amanda Trombly with a Certificate of Merit at a recent Rotary Club meeting. Each month one or two high school seniors attend a Noon Rotary Club meeting and speak about their education and experiences in high school.

The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below “C.”

The Oswego County Historical Society will host the first lecture of the 2013 series on April 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. Guest lecturer Peg Peck will present a program entitled “George Scriba and the Scriba Land Patent.”

At a recent Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Betty Maute introduced Jim Farfaglia, local author and poet. Jim spoke of the recent grant to the library to fund a writing series for the Fulton community.

SUNY Oswego’s Lifestyles Center won the 2013 Area 11 Outstanding Chapter Award at the regional conference of the Bacchus Network, held March 8 and 9 at SUNY University of Buffalo.

In what had become a fifth grade tradition at the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School, holiday Peeps projects have been on display. The popular Peeps are set in a variety of scenes.

United Way of Greater Oswego County has partnered with business and community leaders in the greater Pulaski / Sandy Creek to host its annual Stone Soup Luncheon on  April 28 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 358, 3350 Maple Ave, Pulaski.
