The Oswego High School National Honor Society recently donated in memory of Irene Gilman to the Oswego YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. This campaign allows kids and families the opportunity to be a part of the YMCA.

Students at Volney Elementary School in the Fulton City School District learned a lot about where food comes from, making healthy food choices and more during a special after school enrichment program last year called “Grow Your World and Green Your School” or garden club.

One of Central New York’s premier dance bands, Soft Spoken will provide the entertainment for the Child Advocacy Center’s Black & Blue Masquerade Gala, to be held October 27 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the former St. Michael’s Church in Fulton.

Former national news anchor Garrick Utley and political analyst Edward Wyckoff Williams are among the headliners for the Dr. Lewis B. O’Donnell Media Summit on Oct. 24, at SUNY Oswego, as high-profile guests discuss what it takes to break into the media industry.

The Fulton Public Library and OCO’s Cancer Services Program invites women of all ages to attend a health fair designed exclusively for them. Scheduled for October 17, the event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Fulton Library, 160 S. First St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Charrise Kidd, president of the Fulton Noon Rotary Club, introduced three new members to the club at a recent meeting.

Wear It! Oswego will hold a Fish with a Pro event  behind the Varick Hydro Facility on the Oswego River (West First Street near the Post Office, Ritz Diner and the city of Oswego’s fish cleaning station). It will be October 13 from sunrise to 6 p.m.

Sponsored by the NYS Sheriffs’ Association and the NYS Sheriffs’ Association Institute, the conference provides participants with training in the latest advances in law enforcement and a forum to discuss current corrections issues, receive updates on new legislation impacting corrections and law enforcement, and share best practices.
