About 130,000 older adults in upstate New York reported falling during a three-month period, risking serious injuries, hospitalizations and even death, according to a new Excellus BlueCross BlueShield report.

The United Way will host its annual Stone Soup Luncheon on November 15 at St. Joseph’s Parish Center. Community members are invited to come together to enjoy a luncheon that will aid local food pantries. Food pantries throughout Oswego County are finding it hard to keep their shelves filled and this holiday season will prove to be especially challenging as they struggle to meet the increased demand for food subsidy in Oswego County.

Oswego Rotarians will be turning spaghetti into scholarships on Election night November 6 at Oswego High School cafeteria. Besides spaghetti, they will be serving meatballs, tossed salad, rolls, dessert, and beverages, from 4 to 7 p.m. Customers may dine in or take meals home.

Nearly 1,000 high school juniors and seniors are expected to visit Cayuga Community College Fulton Campus on October 25 for the annual Oswego County Guidance Associations’ College Fair. The fair runs from 9 to 11 a.m. at the new campus, 11 River Glen Drive.

The nine members of the New York State Field Band Conference National Division will take to the field for the final competition of the season on Sunday, October 28 under the Syracuse University Carrier Dome.

For the second consecutive year, Tobacco Free Network will be providing outreach at the Oswego Y’s annual Halloween at the Y event slated for October 26 from 6- 8 p.m. at the Y Armory. This year’s event will add a Monster Mash Costume Parade beginning at 5:45 p.m. in front of the Y Armory, around the bridges and back to the Y Armory – led by volunteers.

The alumni game is part of a weekend celebration of the opening of the new APW Junior/Senior High School gymnasium, and the dedication of the basketball court to long-time men’s varsity coach Grant Decker.
