The Oswego County Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 13, at the Department’s Spring Street office, Mexico, for English and Spanish-speaking persons who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

Larry Fisher, program manager for Oswego County Opportunities PATH program, was recently recognized with a longevity award for 10 years of service to OCO Crisis and Development Services and its consumers.

Symphony Syracuse musicians will continue their mission to build appreciation for Central New York orchestral music when up to 18 members of their chamber ensemble perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom.

The new Buccaneer mascot made its Oswego debut at the Minetto Elementary School Pep Rally on Thursday.

Despite inclement weather throughout the hours approaching the annual New York State Field Band Conference competition the organizers held fast to their desire to keep the show on Joe Wilber Field. The 11 bands were greeted with perfect conditions on a beautiful fall evening.

SUNY Oswego’s On Screen/In Person film series will present the Bengali film “Runaway” at 7 p.m. Oct. 9, at Oswego Cinema 7, 138 W. Second St. A question-and-answer session will follow with Bengali-American director Amit Ashraf.
