For the second year in a row, the New York Farm Bureau has added State Senator Patty Ritchie to its “Circle of Friends,” a recognition given to legislators who are strong supporters of the agricultural industry in New York State.
The students selected a picture of an animal or animals and then wrote a descriptive paragraph using the 6+1 writing traits model: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions and presentation.
SUNY Oswego alumnus Dr. Joseph Coughlin, director of the AgeLab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will be the featured speaker at a symposium at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center examining the challenges of aging and innovative approaches to easing the process.
It was a trip from Broadway to the Oswego High School for “Wicked” performer Kyle Dean Massey. Recently, Massey, a veteran of several Broadway and off-Broadway productions, was in Oswego to perform as part of the Oswego Chamber Music Series. He has had starring roles on Broadway in Next to Normal, Xanadu and Wicked where he is currently playing Fiyero.
The Cayuga Community College Fulton Campus Tutor Club will host a Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at the Fulton Campus, 11 River Glen Drive, Fulton, N.Y.
Mohawk Valley Community College, located in Utica and Rome, is proud to announce the names of students whose high academic performance has qualified them for recognition as members of the President’s List for the recently completed Spring 2012 semester.
Assemblyman Barclay challenges school-age children to read for 15 minutes a day for 40 days throughout the summer months, with an adult or on their own. This year more than 100 kids participated in the reading challenge.
BucFest will take place Saturday from 10:30 a. m. until 1:30 p.m. p.m., at the end of Joe Wilbur Field right after the homecoming parade which will start at 10 a.m. in the lot across from the former Coleman’s Restaurant on West First Street. Immediately following BucFest will be the homecoming game against New Hartford at 2 p.m.
Callahan, Flanagan and Smith Orthodontics in Fulton made a very generous donation to Emily Bradshaw recently. They presented here with toothbrushes and toothpaste for the homeless. Other area dentists have done the same.
