The Oswego City Firefighters Association will host a chicken barbecue benefit for Julian Ross on Saturday. Julian was diagnosed on August 4, 2011, and since then has had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, bone marrow aspirations, scans, transfusions and blood draws.

On August 1 at 7 p.m. the Summer Sunset Concerts Series continues in Oswego’s Breitbeck Park with a performance of the Oswego City Band directed by Donald Goodness. Please note the earlier starting time of 7 p.m.

This Saturday youth ages 5 through 12 will have the opportunity to compete in the USTA Summer Tennis Olympics.Hosted by the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau, the event, which is free, offers participants the opportunity to enjoy friendly competitive tennis games and other activities.

The grant will be used to upgrade and purchase new equipment for the CAC’s Pulaski location and provide additional training to those investigating child abuse case allegations in Oswego County.

At its annual meeting in June, Operation Oswego County presented its 2012 Business Excellence Award to Huhtamaki.

The system of emergency notification sirens surrounding the three nuclear power plants at Nine Mile Point are scheduled to be tested Aug. 6, through 10, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
