With the use of a simple scanning card at the check-out, shoppers in each store will have an opportunity to donate to the Humane Society’s efforts to care for animals and help people and pets come together and stay together.

A limited amount of funding will be awarded to not-for-profit community organizations that provide non-sectarian activities for youth during hours when school is not in session. Community organizations can apply for up to $1,000.

The committee meetings for the Oswego City School District Board of Education will be held on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. The public hearing in regards to the 2012-2013 Oswego City School District budget will be at 6 p.m.

The members of the Oswego Emergency Communicators/RACES provide much more than emergency communications on amateur radio bands to the local community, Patricia Egan, Director of the Oswego County Emergency Management Office, told the group.

The Arts Fest just a few weeks away. CNY Arts Center announces a call for local talent to compete for prizes June 9 at Fulton’s War Memorial Community Center. With professional performing artists as judges, prizes will be awarded in three categories according to age: under 12, 12-20 and 20 and older.

Last year, more than 100 youth participated in 18th and 19th century games, sports, military drill, wilderness tactics, martial arts and many more activities in a unique program which is designed to connect kids with local history through physical activity.
