The Fulton City School District launched the “It’s COOL 2B in School” attendance campaign during the 2011-2012 school year to raise awareness about the importance of good attendance habits.
A recent Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District (APW) district-wide Battle of the Books competition put students’ literary knowledge to the test for an opportunity to represent APW at an upcoming county-wide books battle.
The Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP), a unit of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will staff tax sites in the cities of Oswego and Fulton and by appointment in the villages of Constantia and Phoenix, through April 15.
John Laundre, a predator biologist and SUNY Oswego adjunct instructor, will make a free Rice Creek Reflections presentation titled “Landscape of Fear: Large Carnivores and Ecosystem Integrity” at 11 a.m. March 31 at the college’s Rice Creek Field Station.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County.
There is no charge for the training. A parent or guardian must accompany any youths ages 10 through 17 to the classroom on the first day of the course to sign a parental permission form.
SUNY Oswego’s Matthew J. Dykas, whose studies of family dynamics have advanced the understanding of what it takes to raise emotionally healthier children, will receive the 2012 Provost’s Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity.
The members of the Frederick Leighton Elementary School Student Council recently presented a check for $200 to Red Cross Branch Director Danielle Hayden to aid efforts of the Red Cross.
Oswego’s recipients this year are Earl Bellinger, Rob Kronen, Amy LaLonde, Eric Wojtanik and Adam Wolfe. SUNY will honor Chancellor’s Award winners from around the state in an April 4 ceremony in Albany, while the Oswego students will be recognized on campus during Honors Convocation on April 20.
As part of the Fulton Rotary Club’s Food for Thought food drive, Fulton Savings Bank partnered with the club, the Sunrise Rotary Club, the city of Fulton Police and Fire departments, the Fulton City School District, Oswego Health and Oswego Industries to collect food for the food pantries at Catholic Charities and the Fulton Salvation Army.
