Generous FLS Donation to Red Cross

Oswego’s recipients this year are Earl Bellinger, Rob Kronen, Amy LaLonde, Eric Wojtanik and Adam Wolfe. SUNY will honor Chancellor’s Award winners from around the state in an April 4 ceremony in Albany, while the Oswego students will be recognized on campus during Honors Convocation on April 20.
As part of the Fulton Rotary Club’s Food for Thought food drive, Fulton Savings Bank partnered with the club, the Sunrise Rotary Club, the city of Fulton Police and Fire departments, the Fulton City School District, Oswego Health and Oswego Industries to collect food for the food pantries at Catholic Charities and the Fulton Salvation Army.
Rotarian Bill Grace introduced Nancy Fox, president of the CNY Arts Center of Fulton, at a recent Noon Rotary meeting. She thanked the club for its donation to the “Break Into Writing Program.” With the donation, the CNY Arts Center was able to offer two scholarships to the program.
The course will be taught by instructor Kathy Hobson. Cost for the course is $75 and includes all course materials. The course is open to the public.
Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I – Pulaski) met with teachers from throughout Central New York at his office in Albany this week. They discussed school aid distribution and other matters affecting schools throughout Central and Upstate New York.
Kindergarten Registration for the Hannibal Central School District is scheduled for April 12 and 13 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Fairley Elementary School. Parents or guardians must bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and custody paperwork, if applicable.
Eighteen second graders at Riley Elementary School read 15 Caldecott Award books in January and February to join the Riley Caldecott Club. On March 9 , they celebrated their achievement with a visit from Lucy, a certified Reading Education Assistant Dog.
The National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education honored Howard Gordon of Syracuse at the organization’s annual conference, held this month in conjunction with the American Council on Education annual meeting in Los Angeles.
The YMCA will conduct the program during the Easter (spring) school vacation. The YMCA provides the pool and the Rotary Club pays for the instructors.
