Give Your Valentine The Gift Of Life, Free Cancer Screenings

Carolyn Handville, coordinator of Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program receives movie passes from Josh Gadek, manager of the Oswego Cinema. Throughout February, the program is offering free clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap/pelvic exams and colon cancer screenings to uninsured community members. Eligible couples that each complete at least one screening will receive a $25 gift certificate for dinner and two free movie passes to the Oswego Cinema.Throughout February the Cancer Services Program is offering free clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap/pelvic exams and colon cancer screenings to uninsured community members throughout the community.

Grant aids project to catalog Native American artifacts, map sites

SUNY Oswego senior anthropology students Khrystyne Tschinkel, left, and Elisabeth Warszycki observe, research and catalog Native American pottery shards in a Mahar Hall lab, part of a project involving some 160,000 artifacts dating from prehistoric times to the 19th century.A $90,000 federal grant has helped advance a SUNY Oswego project to catalog and map the origins of at least 160,000 centuries-old Native American and other artifacts from archeological sites around the state.
